About this active substance
Relacorilant blocks glucocorticoid receptors and can make cancer cells more sensitive to chemotherapy. In the US it is approved with nab-paclitaxel for platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer after 1–3 systemic treatments, including one with bevacizumab. It is not used alone for this indication.
Capsules are taken by mouth on the day before, the day of and the day after each nab-paclitaxel infusion, following the oncology schedule. Do not alter the schedule or double missed doses. The team checks blood counts and interactions. Report every medicine, including corticosteroids, supplements and herbal products.
The combination can cause fatigue, nausea, diarrhoea, rash, reduced appetite and low blood cell counts. Important risks include severe infection and reduced cortisol effects, with weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness or vomiting. Fever, confusion, fainting or bleeding requires urgent medical contact.
It must not be used in people needing systemic corticosteroids for lifesaving indications because it can reduce their effectiveness. Follow contraception advice and do not breastfeed. On 25 September 2026, Lifyorli had a positive EU CHMP opinion, but European marketing authorisation was not confirmed in the sources reviewed. Access should be checked through the oncologist.
