Substance: chromoglic acid (antiallergic agent)

ATC: S01GX01 (Sensory organs | Decongestants and antiallergics | Other antiallergics)

Cromoglicic acid is a medication used to prevent allergic reactions and allergic asthma. It works by stabilizing mast cell membranes, preventing the release of histamine and other chemicals involved in allergic reactions.

It is commonly used as a nasal spray or eye drops to treat allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis. It can also be administered via inhalation to prevent symptoms of allergen-induced or exercise-induced asthma.

Cromoglicic acid is well-tolerated, and side effects are rare and usually mild, including local irritation or a burning sensation at the application site. It is important to use it regularly to prevent symptoms, as it does not have an immediate effect.

Patients should follow their doctor's instructions for proper use of the medication. It is not recommended for treating acute asthma attacks or severe allergic reactions.
