Lercanidipine is a medication used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It belongs to the class of calcium channel blockers in the dihydropyridine group and works by relaxing blood vessels, which reduces vascular resistance and lowers blood pressure.

Lercanidipine is taken orally, usually once daily, preferably at least 15 minutes before a meal, as fatty foods can affect its absorption. It is well-tolerated and has a long-lasting effect, making it suitable for long-term blood pressure control.

Common side effects include headache, dizziness, facial flushing, palpitations, or peripheral edema (swelling of the ankles). Rarely, allergic reactions or severe hypotension may occur.
