Emedastine is an antihistamine used for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis. It works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms such as itching, redness, and excessive tearing.
The medication is administered as eye drops, usually twice daily, as directed by a doctor. It is important to avoid touching the tip of the bottle to the eye to prevent contamination.
Side effects may include eye irritation, burning sensation, or dryness. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.
Emedastine is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or any of its components.
