Lodoxamide is a medication used to treat ocular allergies, such as allergic conjunctivitis. It works by stabilizing mast cells, preventing the release of histamine and other substances that cause inflammation and allergic symptoms.
The medication is available as eye drops and is typically used 2-4 times a day as directed by a doctor. It is effective in reducing symptoms such as itching, redness, and excessive tearing.
Side effects may include a burning or stinging sensation in the eyes, temporary blurred vision, or dry eyes. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.
Patients should strictly follow the usage instructions and avoid wearing contact lenses immediately after applying the drops. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use.
