About this active substance
Perindopril + indapamide + amlodipine + bisoprolol treats high blood pressure in selected adults. It can replace the same components taken separately or be prescribed for resistant hypertension inadequately controlled with the first three. It is not an initial treatment. It relaxes blood vessels, increases salt and water excretion and slows the heart rate.
It is taken by mouth, usually as one capsule in the morning before breakfast, at the prescribed strength. The clinician chooses doses and monitors blood pressure, pulse, kidney function and electrolytes. Do not stop abruptly: suddenly withdrawing bisoprolol can worsen heart problems. Changes may require separate components under supervision.
Dizziness, fatigue, dry cough, swollen ankles, slow pulse or low blood pressure can occur. Sodium, potassium and kidney function may change. Stand up slowly if dizzy and report persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, which can worsen dehydration and low blood pressure.
Swelling of the face, tongue or throat with breathing difficulty requires emergency help. Fainting or a very slow pulse needs prompt assessment. Report pregnancy, kidney problems and asthma; the combination is unsuitable in pregnancy and certain kidney or heart conditions. Do not add potassium supplements or anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen without approval.
