It is indicated for the treatment of conditions such as trichomoniasis, giardiasis, amoebiasis, and anaerobic bacterial infections, including those associated with abscesses, peritonitis, gynecological infections, or dental infections. Ornidazole can also be used prophylactically to prevent postoperative infections caused by anaerobic bacteria.
Side effects may include nausea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, or, in rare cases, allergic reactions.
