This medicine may change blood electrolyte levels.
Calcium phosphate + colecalciferol combines a calcium source with vitamin D3. It is used to prevent or treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency, support bone health and sometimes as additional treatment in osteoporosis. Vitamin D3 helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus and contributes to maintaining normal bone mineralisation.
It is taken by mouth according to the dose recommended by a doctor or pharmacist. The dose depends on age, diet, vitamin D level, fracture risk and other treatments. Do not combine several calcium or vitamin D products without checking the total daily intake. Some medicines, such as levothyroxine, iron, antibiotics or bisphosphonates, should be taken at a separate time.
Side effects may include constipation, nausea, bloating, abdominal pain or increased thirst. Too much calcium or vitamin D can lead to high calcium levels, kidney stones, weakness, confusion, frequent urination, persistent nausea or abnormal heart rhythm. The risk is higher in people with kidney disease, sarcoidosis, hyperparathyroidism or a history of kidney stones.
Ask a doctor before use if you have kidney failure, high calcium levels, kidney stones, granulomatous disease or treatment with thiazide diuretics or cardiac glycosides. During long-term treatment, blood tests for calcium, phosphate and kidney function may be needed. The product helps only when the dose is appropriate and does not replace balanced nutrition and physical activity.
