Verapamil is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, angina (chest pain caused by insufficient blood flow to the heart), and certain heart rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation or supraventricular tachycardia. It belongs to the class of calcium channel blockers, working by relaxing blood vessels and reducing the workload on the heart.

Verapamil is available in immediate-release or extended-release tablet forms and can be taken one to three times daily, depending on the formulation and medical indication. It should be taken as prescribed by the doctor, with or without food.
