Terbinafine is an antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, and scalp. Terbinafine works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, leading to the destruction of the fungus. It is available in the form of cream, gel, spray for topical use, and tablets for oral administration, depending on the type and severity of the infection.
