Vardenafil is taken orally, usually 25-60 minutes before sexual activity. Its effects can last up to 4-5 hours. The medication does not work without sexual stimulation and is not intended for daily continuous use, but rather as needed.

Common side effects include headaches, facial flushing, nasal congestion, dizziness, and digestive issues. Rarely, it may cause more serious effects, such as a sudden drop in blood pressure, temporary vision or hearing loss, or prolonged and painful erections (priapism), which require immediate medical attention.

Vardenafil is not recommended for men taking nitrates for heart conditions, as the combination can lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
