Simethicone is a medication used to reduce gas buildup in the gastrointestinal tract, indicated for the treatment of bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort caused by excess gas. It is an antiflatulent agent that works by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles, making it easier for them to be eliminated from the stomach and intestines.

Simethicone is not absorbed into the body, making it a safe medication for long-term use. It is commonly used in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, functional dyspepsia, or after abdominal surgeries, where gas buildup can cause discomfort.
