Cinnarizine is a medication used to treat balance disorders and associated symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, nausea, and vomiting. It is commonly prescribed for vestibular conditions such as Ménière's disease, vertigo of peripheral or central origin, and cerebral circulatory disorders.

Cinnarizine acts as a calcium channel antagonist, reducing calcium influx into smooth muscle cells of blood vessels. This mechanism improves blood circulation, particularly in the inner ear and brain, reducing vestibular overstimulation and associated symptoms.

It is also used for the prevention of motion sickness, effectively reducing nausea and dizziness caused by travel. Additionally, it may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms caused by peripheral vascular disorders, such as Raynaud's syndrome.

Side effects may include drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, headache, or gastrointestinal disturbances. In rare cases, allergic reactions, tremors, or muscle stiffness may occur, especially in elderly patients. Patients should avoid alcohol or other sedatives during treatment, as these may enhance drowsiness.
