It is also used in combination with other medications to treat Helicobacter pylori infection in gastric ulcers.

Common side effects include nausea, metallic taste, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. Rarely, allergic reactions or neurological disturbances, such as seizures or peripheral neuropathy, may occur. It is important to avoid alcohol consumption during treatment and for 48 hours after completing it, as it may cause a severe adverse reaction (disulfiram-like effect).
