Indicated for: gastroesophageal reflux; acid dyspepsia
Route of administration: oral
Substance: magnesium hydroxide + aluminum hydroxide (mineral antacids)
ATC: A02AD01 (Alimentary tract and metabolism | Antacids | Combinations and complexes of aluminium, calcium and magnesium compounds)
Do not take with milk, calcium, iron, magnesium, or antacids if separation is recommended.
The combination of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide is used as an antacid for the treatment of heartburn, indigestion, and other gastrointestinal conditions associated with excess stomach acid. Magnesium hydroxide neutralizes stomach acid, while aluminum hydroxide provides a protective effect on the gastric mucosa.
The medication is taken orally, usually after meals or before bedtime, according to the doctor's instructions. It is effective in relieving symptoms of heartburn and gastric discomfort.
Side effects may include constipation (due to aluminum hydroxide), diarrhea (due to magnesium hydroxide), or, in rare cases, electrolyte imbalances. Long-term use should be avoided without medical supervision.
Consult your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment with this combination. Follow the prescribed dosage and adhere to all medical recommendations.
