Lurasidone is an atypical antipsychotic used for the treatment of schizophrenia and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. It works by regulating dopamine and serotonin activity in the brain.

The medication is taken orally, usually once daily, and should be taken with food to improve absorption. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions and not to discontinue treatment abruptly.

Side effects may include drowsiness, nausea, weight gain, or dizziness. In rare cases, severe reactions such as neuroleptic malignant syndrome or tardive dyskinesia may occur.

Lurasidone is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or those taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors.
