The combination of metronidazole and miconazole is used for the treatment of mixed vaginal infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and fungi, such as bacterial vaginosis and vaginal candidiasis. Metronidazole acts as an antibacterial agent, while miconazole is an antifungal.

The medication is administered topically, in the form of vaginal suppositories or cream, usually once daily for 7 days. Common side effects include local irritation, itching, and a burning sensation.

This combination is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components or in pregnant women during the first trimester. Its use also requires caution to prevent imbalances in vaginal flora.
