About this active substance
Econazole is an antifungal used for the treatment of fungal skin infections such as tinea pedis, tinea corporis, or cutaneous candidiasis. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, essential for the fungal cell membrane.
The medication is applied topically as a cream or solution, as directed by a doctor, usually once or twice daily.
Side effects may include local irritation, burning sensation, or redness. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.
Econazole is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or other antifungals in the same class.
