Cimicifuga rhizome extract, also known as black cohosh extract, is a herbal preparation used to relieve menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, sweating, irritability or mild sleep disturbance. It is intended for functional symptoms and does not replace medical assessment if vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain or other unusual signs occur.
It is taken by mouth according to the product leaflet. The effect is not immediate and may take several weeks. Do not combine several menopause products without medical advice, especially if you use hormone treatment, medicines for breast cancer or have chronic illnesses.
