It is also used to relieve acute pain, such as menstrual pain or post-traumatic pain.
Ketoprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins, substances involved in inflammation, pain, and fever. It is available in the form of tablets, topical gels, suppositories, or injectable solutions.
