Isoconazole is an antifungal medication used for the treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin, such as dermatophytosis, cutaneous candidiasis, and pityriasis versicolor. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, thereby destroying fungal cells.
The medication is applied topically, in the form of a cream or solution, as directed by a doctor. It is important to complete the treatment duration to prevent relapses.
Side effects may include local irritation, burning sensation, or skin rashes. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.
Isoconazole is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or other azole antifungals.
