Paracetamol + ascorbic acid + chlorpheniramine + caffeine is a combination for cold and flu symptoms such as fever, aches, runny nose, sneezing and tiredness. Paracetamol reduces pain and fever, vitamin C supplements intake, chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine, and caffeine may reduce drowsiness and support the analgesic effect.
It is taken by mouth according to the leaflet, for short-term use. Do not combine it with other products containing paracetamol, because overdose can seriously damage the liver. Avoid alcohol and check caffeine intake from coffee, energy drinks or other medicines. Chlorpheniramine may still cause drowsiness, even when caffeine is present.
Side effects may include nausea, dry mouth, sleepiness, dizziness, insomnia, palpitations, nervousness, constipation or difficulty urinating. Caution is needed in patients with liver disease, alcohol use, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, hypertension, rhythm disorders, epilepsy or treatment with sedatives, antidepressants or anticoagulants.
Seek urgent medical help in case of overdose, even if you feel well. Consult a doctor if fever lasts more than 3 days, symptoms worsen, chest pain, breathing difficulty, severe rash, marked sleepiness or intense palpitations occur. During pregnancy, breastfeeding and childhood, use should be confirmed by a doctor or pharmacist.
