Loratadine is an antihistamine medication used to treat allergic symptoms such as allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, nasal itching) and urticaria (hives with itching). It is a second-generation antihistamine that blocks H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing allergic reactions.
One advantage of loratadine is that it does not cause significant drowsiness, making it well-tolerated by most patients. It is available in tablet, syrup, or oral solution form and is usually taken once daily.
