FEMILOGES 4mg gastro-resistant tablets medication leaflet

G02C dry extract from rhubarb root • Genito urinary system and sex hormones | Other gynecologicals

Dry rhubarb root extract is a herbal medicine used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation. Rhubarb root contains anthraquinone derivatives, substances with stimulant laxative activity. They increase bowel movement and change water and salt handling in the intestine, helping stool pass more easily.

This treatment is intended for situations where simple measures such as drinking enough fluids, eating fibre and being physically active have not been sufficient. It is not a weight-loss product and should not be used every day for long periods. Persistent constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or unexplained weight loss should be discussed with a doctor.

The extract is taken by mouth at the dose stated in the leaflet or recommended by a healthcare professional. It is often taken in the evening because the effect may occur the next morning. Use the lowest dose that gives comfortable relief and do not combine it with other stimulant laxatives unless advised. Children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women should seek medical advice before use.

Possible side effects include cramps, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea and loss of fluid or salts, especially with high doses. Long-term use may worsen constipation and lower potassium levels, which can contribute to weakness or abnormal heart rhythm. Do not use it in bowel obstruction, active inflammatory bowel disease or unexplained abdominal symptoms unless a clinician has assessed you.
