Doxylamine is an antihistamine used for the short-term treatment of insomnia and for relieving allergic symptoms such as rhinitis or urticaria. It works by blocking H1 histamine receptors, producing a sedative effect.

The medication is taken orally, usually before bedtime, as directed by a doctor or the product leaflet.

Side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, or constipation. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions or confusion may occur.

Doxylamine is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication, closed-angle glaucoma, or urinary retention.
