Dimenhydrinate is an antihistamine used for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness. It works by blocking H1 histamine receptors and reducing vestibular stimulation.
The medication is taken orally, usually 30 minutes before travel, as directed by a doctor or the product leaflet.
Side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, or gastrointestinal disturbances. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.
Dimenhydrinate is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or closed-angle glaucoma.
