Onion extract + heparin + allantoin is a topical combination used for scar care, including scars after wounds, minor burns, surgery or acne, once the skin has fully closed. The aim is to help soften, moisturise and smooth the scar and to reduce tightness, redness or local itching. It is not intended for open wounds or infected skin.
The gel or cream is applied to the scar, usually once or several times daily, according to the leaflet. Gentle massage may help the product spread and penetrate, but it should not be used on open wounds, mucous membranes, infections or very irritated skin. Results develop slowly over weeks or months, and older scars may respond less than newer ones.
Side effects are usually local and may include redness, itching, burning sensation, dryness, irritation or rash. Mild itching can sometimes occur during scar remodelling, but strong irritation should not be ignored. Avoid intense sun exposure on the scar and use sun protection, because ultraviolet light can worsen pigmentation and make the scar more visible.
Stop use and ask for medical advice if blisters, pain, discharge, swelling, widespread rash or signs of infection occur. If a scar grows quickly, becomes painful, thickens excessively or limits movement, a dermatologist or surgeon may be needed. Topical treatment can improve the appearance and comfort of scars, but it cannot guarantee complete disappearance.
