Ibuprofen and codeine are active ingredients used in combination to treat moderate to severe pain, such as headaches, dental pain, muscle pain, postoperative pain, or pain associated with inflammatory conditions. This combination is effective due to the synergistic effect of the two components, providing fast and long-lasting pain relief.

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation, pain, and fever by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances involved in the inflammatory process. Codeine is a mild opioid that acts on the central nervous system to reduce the perception of pain, enhancing the analgesic effect of ibuprofen.

Although this combination is effective, its use should be approached with caution. Codeine can cause dependency if used long-term or in high doses. It may also cause drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or nausea. Ibuprofen may cause gastrointestinal side effects, such as stomach irritation, heartburn, or ulcers, especially with long-term use. It is important not to exceed the recommended dose.
