Bromhexine acts as a fluidifier of bronchial secretions during acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases accompanied by viscous secretions: acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, pneumoconiosis.

Animal studies have shown that bromhexine increases bronchial secretion, decreases its viscosity and increases the activity of the cilia of the bronchial mucosa, thus favoring the elimination of bronchial secretions.
