Leaflet BIXTONIM XYLO 1mg / ml nasal spray, solution

Indicated for: nasal congestion; rhinitis

Substance: xylometazoline (adrenergic decongestant)

ATC: R01AA07 (Respiratory system | Decongestants and other nasal preparations for topical use | Sympathomimetics, plain)

Xylometazoline is a medication used to relieve nasal congestion associated with the common cold, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, or other respiratory conditions. It belongs to the class of nasal decongestants and works by constricting blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, reducing inflammation and making breathing easier.

Xylometazoline is available as a nasal spray or drops and is typically used 2-3 times a day for a maximum of 5-7 days. Prolonged use can lead to rebound congestion (worsened nasal congestion) or dependency.

Common side effects include dryness or irritation of the nasal mucosa, a burning or tingling sensation in the nose, and, less commonly, headaches or dizziness. In rare cases, excessive use may cause increased blood pressure or palpitations.

Xylometazoline is not recommended for children below a certain age (depending on the product concentration) and should be used with caution in individuals with high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, or glaucoma. It is important to use it as directed by a doctor or the product leaflet.
