Indicated for: trichomoniasis
Route of administration: oral
Substance: tenonitrozol (antiprotozoal)

Tenonitrozole is an antiparasitic medicine used for urogenital trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted infection caused by Trichomonas vaginalis. The infection may cause abnormal vaginal discharge, unpleasant odour, burning, itching, pain when urinating, or no symptoms at all. Correct treatment helps cure infection and reduce transmission.
It is taken by mouth according to the schedule prescribed by the doctor. Sexual partner or partners should be assessed and treated if needed, otherwise reinfection is common. During treatment and until cure, sexual contact should be avoided or the precautions recommended by the doctor should be followed. Diagnosis should be confirmed whenever possible.
Side effects may include nausea, abdominal pain, digestive discomfort, unpleasant taste, headache, dizziness or rash. Some medicines in this field may interact with alcohol or worsen certain liver problems, so the patient should follow the leaflet and medical advice. Tell the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver disease and all medicines used.
Consult a doctor if symptoms persist, return, or if pelvic pain, fever, bleeding, heavy discharge or testicular pain occurs. Seek urgent help for allergic reactions, severe rash, jaundice, confusion or important dizziness. Trichomoniasis is transmissible, and treatment of partners plus testing for other sexually transmitted infections may be needed.
