Indicated for: asthenia; vitamin B6 deficiency
Route of administration: infusion
Substance: aspartic acid + pyridoxine (metabolic amino acid and vitamin B6)
ATC: A05BAN3 (Alimentary tract and metabolism | Liver therapy, lipotropics)
Aspartic acid + pyridoxine is a metabolic and vitamin supplement. Aspartic acid is an amino acid involved in energy-related processes and metabolism, while pyridoxine is vitamin B6, important for nervous system function, neurotransmitter formation and protein metabolism. Use should be matched to the patient’s real nutritional needs and clinical situation.
It is taken by mouth according to the leaflet or the advice of a doctor or pharmacist. It may be proposed during insufficient dietary intake, recovery, tiredness or increased vitamin B6 needs, but it does not by itself treat important causes such as anaemia, thyroid disease, depression, chronic infections or neurological disorders. If symptoms persist, medical evaluation is needed.
Side effects are usually mild and may include nausea, abdominal discomfort, headache, restlessness or difficulty sleeping. The main safety issue is excessive vitamin B6 intake, especially if the patient also uses multivitamins, energy drinks or other supplements. Long-term use of high pyridoxine doses can cause neuropathy, with tingling, numbness, burning sensations or problems with walking.
Ask for medical advice before use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney disease, neurological disease, treatment with levodopa without a decarboxylase inhibitor, or when taking several supplements. Stop use and contact a doctor if persistent numbness, weakness, allergic reactions, widespread rash or worsening general condition occurs. The supplement should not replace proper diagnosis and treatment.
