Amoxicillin with clavulanic acid is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. The combination is effective against bacteria resistant to amoxicillin due to the presence of clavulanic acid, which inhibits bacterial enzymes (beta-lactamases) that would otherwise destroy amoxicillin.

It is indicated for upper respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis), lower respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections.

Amoxicillin with clavulanic acid is available in the form of tablets, oral suspension, or injectable solution. It is generally well-tolerated but may cause side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, skin rashes, or, rarely, severe allergic reactions.

It is important to take it as prescribed by a doctor and to complete the full course of treatment to prevent bacterial resistance.
