Valsartan is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, and to improve survival after a heart attack. It belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), which work by relaxing blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart.

It is commonly prescribed to prevent cardiovascular complications such as strokes, heart attacks, or kidney failure, especially in patients with diabetes or other associated conditions.
