Tribenoside + lidocaine is a local combination used for symptoms of internal or external haemorrhoids. Tribenoside helps reduce inflammation, swelling and local vessel fragility, while lidocaine is a local anaesthetic that rapidly relieves pain, burning, stinging and itching. The treatment is symptomatic and does not always remove the underlying cause of haemorrhoids.

It is used as rectal cream or suppositories according to the leaflet or doctor’s advice. Gentle local hygiene, prevention of constipation, adequate fibre and fluids, and avoiding straining during bowel movements are important. Treatment is intended for short-term use; if symptoms return frequently, medical assessment is needed rather than repeated self-treatment.

Side effects may include local burning, itching, irritation, pain, rash or allergic reactions. Lidocaine can rarely cause excessive numbness or systemic effects if applied over large areas, damaged skin or in excessive quantities. Do not use more than recommended and avoid applying it to infected lesions unless a healthcare professional has assessed them.
