About this active substance
Polysulfuric mucopolysaccharide + salicylic acid is a topical combination used for inflammatory skin lesions, bruises, swelling, superficial pain or conditions where inflammation reduction and softening of the horny skin layer are desired. Polysulfuric mucopolysaccharide has local anti-inflammatory effects, while salicylic acid is keratolytic and can reduce skin thickening.
It is applied to the skin in a thin layer, according to the leaflet. It should not be used on open wounds, mucous membranes, eyes, infected skin, bleeding areas or large surfaces without medical advice. Wash hands after application. If the product contains salicylic acid, avoid occlusive dressings unless a doctor has recommended them.
Side effects may include redness, stinging, irritation, dryness, peeling, itching or allergy. Salicylic acid can irritate the skin and, if absorbed in large amounts, may rarely cause systemic effects. People allergic to salicylates, those taking anticoagulants, young children or patients with kidney disease should be cautious.
Stop use and seek medical advice if intense burning, blisters, widespread rash, bleeding, severe pain, ringing in the ears, dizziness or worsening of the lesion occurs. If a bruise or swelling appears without a clear reason, grows quickly or is accompanied by intense pain, medical assessment may be needed. The product is intended for selected local symptoms.
