About this active substance

The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which protects against types 16 and 18, is used to prevent HPV infections and associated conditions such as cancers of the cervix, vulva, vagina, and anus. Types 16 and 18 are responsible for approximately 70% of cervical cancer cases worldwide.

The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, usually in three doses over a six-month period, and is recommended for both girls and boys starting at ages 9-12, before exposure to the virus.

Common side effects include pain at the injection site, mild fever, headache, and fatigue. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.

The HPV vaccine (types 16 and 18) is an essential measure for preventing HPV-associated cancers, significantly contributing to reducing the burden of diseases caused by this virus and improving public health.
