About this active substance
Meclozine is a medication used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness, vertigo, or other inner ear disorders such as Ménière's disease. It belongs to the class of H1 antihistamines and works by blocking histamine receptors in the brain, thereby reducing the sensation of nausea and dizziness.
Meclozine is available in tablet form and can be taken 1-2 hours before travel to prevent motion sickness. It is also sometimes used to treat nausea during pregnancy, but only under medical supervision.
Side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, blurred vision, or, in rare cases, allergic reactions. Patients should avoid alcohol consumption or operating vehicles during treatment, as meclizine may impair alertness.
