About this active substance

Macroaggregates of human albumin are used in medical imaging, particularly in lung scintigraphy, to assess pulmonary perfusion. These are composed of human albumin particles labeled with a radioactive marker.

The medication is administered intravenously and allows visualization of blood flow in the lungs using nuclear imaging techniques. It is commonly used for diagnosing pulmonary embolism or other lung conditions.

Adverse effects are rare but may include allergic reactions, nausea, or dizziness. Administration must be performed under the supervision of a nuclear medicine specialist.

Macroaggregates of human albumin are not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to albumin or other components of the medication, as well as those with severe pulmonary hypertension.
