About this active substance

The combination of Efavirenz + Emtricitabine + Tenofovir disoproxil is used for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents. It combines a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (efavirenz) with two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil) to suppress viral replication.

The medication is taken orally, usually once daily, and is effective in reducing viral load and increasing CD4 cell counts. It is used as part of combination antiretroviral therapy.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, insomnia, rash, and, in rare cases, liver or kidney impairment. Regular monitoring of liver and kidney function is essential.
