Paricalcitol is a vitamin D analog used for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease. It helps regulate calcium and phosphorus levels in the body, reducing excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH).
The medication is administered intravenously or orally, as directed by your doctor. It is important to monitor calcium, phosphorus, and PTH levels during treatment to prevent complications.
