Josamycin is a macrolide antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections, including respiratory, skin, and genital infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, with a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
The medication is taken orally, usually two to three times daily, as directed by a doctor. It is important to follow the prescribed dose and duration of treatment to prevent the development of bacterial resistance.
Side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or allergic reactions. In rare cases, hepatotoxicity or severe hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Josamycin is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to macrolides or severe hepatic impairment.
