Levmetamfetamine is a nasal decongestant used in some inhalers for temporary relief of blocked nose due to colds, hay fever or upper respiratory allergies. It acts locally by reducing nasal mucosal congestion. It does not treat the cause of infection or allergy and should not be used as long-term treatment.

It is used by nasal inhalation according to the leaflet, without exceeding the recommended frequency. The inhaler should not be shared, because this can spread infection. Frequent or prolonged use may cause nasal congestion to recur or worsen. If symptoms persist for more than a few days, medical reassessment is needed rather than continued repeated use.

Side effects may include burning, stinging, sneezing, increased nasal discharge, dryness, local irritation, headache, dizziness, palpitations or restlessness. People with high blood pressure, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, MAO inhibitor treatment or sensitivity to decongestants should seek medical advice before use.

Seek medical help if chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, marked blood pressure increase, severe dizziness, breathing difficulty or allergic reactions occur. During pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children, follow the permitted age and medical advice strictly. If swallowed accidentally, especially by a child, contact a doctor or poison centre immediately.
