Dienogest is a progestin primarily used to treat endometriosis, a condition in which endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus, causing pain and other symptoms. It works by reducing estrogen production and inhibiting the growth of endometrial tissue.
The medication is taken orally, usually once daily, as directed by a doctor.
Side effects may include headaches, nausea, weight changes, or irregular menstrual bleeding. In rare cases, more severe adverse effects such as depression or blood clots may occur.
Patients should inform their doctor about any other medications they are taking and strictly follow the treatment regimen. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication.
