The combined hepatitis B purified + hepatitis A inactivated vaccine is used to prevent infections caused by the hepatitis A and B viruses. This combined vaccine contains the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and inactivated hepatitis A viruses, which stimulate the immune system to produce specific antibodies against both viruses.
The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, usually in three doses, following a standard schedule (0, 1, and 6 months). It is recommended for individuals needing protection against both viruses, such as travelers to endemic areas, healthcare workers, and those at increased risk of exposure.
Common side effects include pain at the injection site, mild fever, fatigue, and headache. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur.
The combined hepatitis B purified + hepatitis A inactivated vaccine provides a convenient solution for simultaneous protection against these two viral infections, helping to reduce the risk of severe complications associated with them.
