Indicated for: dry eye syndrome; ocular lubrication
Route of administration: ophthalmic
Substance: dextran + hypromellose (ocular lubricant)
ATC: S01XA20 (Sensory organs | Other ophthalmologicals)
This medicine may cause vision disturbances.
Dextran + hypromellose is a combination used as artificial tears for dry, irritated or tired eyes. It lubricates the surface of the eye and helps reduce a gritty feeling, burning, stinging or discomfort caused by wind, dry air, screen use, contact lenses or insufficient tear production. It is not an antibiotic and does not treat eye infections.
The drops are applied to the eye, often several times daily, according to the leaflet or medical advice. Wash your hands before use and do not touch the eye or eyelids with the bottle tip. If you use other eye drops, leave a few minutes between products. Some bottles or single-dose units must be discarded after opening, as described in the instructions.
Side effects are usually mild and may include temporary blurred vision, sticky feeling, mild stinging, watering or short-lasting redness. If the product contains preservatives, they may irritate the eye with frequent use or affect soft contact lenses. In such cases, a doctor or pharmacist may recommend preservative-free artificial tears.
See a doctor if eye pain is severe, redness persists, pus-like discharge appears, vision changes, light becomes difficult to tolerate or symptoms do not improve after a few days. Dry eye may be linked to illness, medication or chronic inflammation. Screen breaks, adequate hydration and avoiding very dry air can also help comfort.
