Drotaverine is an antispasmodic medication used to relieve pain and spasms of smooth muscles in various parts of the body. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as biliary colic, renal colic, menstrual pain, or other types of abdominal pain caused by spasms.

This medication works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE-4), which leads to the relaxation of smooth muscles in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, bile ducts, and blood vessels. Through this mechanism, drotaverine helps alleviate pain and improve blood flow in the affected areas.
