Butylscopolamine bromide is an antispasmodic medication used to treat pain and spasms of smooth muscles in the gastrointestinal, biliary, and urinary tracts. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as biliary colic, renal colic, irritable bowel syndrome, or other disorders associated with abdominal spasms.

This medication works by blocking muscarinic receptors in smooth muscles, reducing involuntary contractions and relaxing the muscles. Through this mechanism, butylscopolamine bromide helps relieve pain and discomfort caused by spasms.

Butylscopolamine bromide is available in the form of tablets, suppositories, or injectable solutions, depending on the severity of the symptoms. The usual adult dose is 10-20 mg, 3-5 times a day, but this may vary based on the doctor’s recommendations and the patient’s condition.
