This combination of medications is used for the symptomatic treatment of colds and flu, particularly for relieving fever, nasal congestion, and allergic symptoms such as sneezing or runny nose.
- Paracetamol: An analgesic and antipyretic that reduces fever and relieves mild to moderate pain, such as headaches or muscle aches.
- Pseudoephedrine: A nasal decongestant that reduces inflammation and congestion of the nasal mucosa, making breathing easier.
- Chlorpheniramine: A first-generation antihistamine that reduces allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itching.
This combination is taken orally, usually in the form of tablets or capsules, as directed by a doctor or the package instructions.
Common side effects include drowsiness (due to chlorpheniramine), dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, or insomnia (due to pseudoephedrine). Rarely, allergic reactions, high blood pressure, or palpitations may occur.
This combination is contraindicated in patients with severe hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, or severe liver impairment. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as it may enhance the sedative effects of chlorpheniramine.
