Ropinirole is a medication primarily used to treat Parkinson's disease and Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). It belongs to the class of dopamine receptor agonists, working by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain, which helps alleviate symptoms caused by dopamine deficiency.

In Parkinson's disease, ropinirole is used to reduce motor symptoms such as tremors, muscle stiffness, and movement difficulties. It can be used alone in the early stages of the disease or in combination with levodopa in advanced stages to improve symptom control.

In Restless Legs Syndrome, ropinirole helps reduce unpleasant sensations in the limbs and improves sleep quality. It is usually taken in the evening, before bedtime, to manage nighttime symptoms.

Common side effects include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and orthostatic hypotension. In rare cases, it may cause impulsive behaviors, hallucinations, or severe sleepiness. Treatment should be supervised by a doctor, and the dose is gradually adjusted to minimize side effects.
